After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church- for we are members of his body. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He is also to be strong in the faith, and to bring the children up knowing right from wrong.Įphesians 5:25-37 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. He is called upon to be a leader and protector for the family, and to give an example of Christ’s love by being loving towards the children’s mother. This Father’s Day, as you remember your earthly father, take time to thank your heavenly Father for seeing you, knowing you, and wanting you as his very own child. “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.” Your Father wants to be with you forever. So do not be afraid you are worth much more than many sparrows!” As for you, even the hairs of your head have all been counted. “For only a penny you can buy two sparrows, yet not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father’s consent. How much more, then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” “As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. The truths Jesus expressed about God are just as applicable for us today as they were for his listeners over 2,000 years ago. The Bible says that God is a Father who guides us (Isaiah 64:8). ![]() This Father’s Day, as we remember our earthly fathers, we can celebrate our heavenly Father as well. When you catch a scent that reminds you of his cologne, your eyes mist over and you long to hug him again. Perhaps even the thought of your dad forms a knot in your stomach and a sense of childhood dread. Perhaps he protected you from bullies and told you he was proud of you. Maybe your father played ball with you every Saturday growing up. ![]()
